Campaign is a UK based global business magazine that covers media, advertising and commercial creativity. Aside from its monthly prints and an annual report based on the performances of large advertising companies, it has a website that is updated daily. Within the website, there is a section titled ‘case studies’, which contains analyses of a large number of ad campaigns by big companies. Although business focused, many of these campaigns use media to achieve their aims of being relevant to today’s world and tackling social issues such as gender equality, body positivity and public safety. It is apparent that much of the motivations behind these movements are to improve the companies’ sales and popularity with the public. However, the case studies provide a thorough and all rounded description of contemporary campaigns and their impact on society, including strategies used, and their statistical outcomes. Moreover, several of them also show examples of culture jamming, testimonies, and entertaining advocacy to create a social impact. As this is a magazine, at times a subscription is required to access some of the website’s content, which can be problematic. None the less, this site acts as a contemporary archive and is a great resource to use when first researching topics and examples of media and its impact.
