Mov(i)e Activism is a travelling documentary film festival. It showcases a variety of documentaries of underrepresented activists to further their campaigns in various cities throughout the world. The goal of this festival is to empower filmmakers in their forms of activism while showing audience members how personal commitment and practical actions can contribute to activism, all in hopes of inspiring these individuals to become activists themselves. This festival would prove very beneficial for a campaign that is yet to integrate media to its platform. Film festivals have the potential to harness attention that can be translated into political activism. With the films being selected from various different countries with different political campaigns, the festival has the power to foster an international community. Furthermore, the festivals are easily accessible for audience members and filmmakers alike, with free tickets for entry and a single dollar for film submissions. It must be acknowledged that this festival is still very small in scale, with still a relatively small community. For that reason, there are strong limitations for its outreach. Although it is global in scale, this global context could make it difficult to make an impact with having to mobilize a small community that is very widespread. However, the festival as a whole is promising with it growing in scale. It has the ability to harness the power of film festivals to further underrepresented activism in an intimate yet global context.
